MP-elect Nurzzaman Biswas, who has been elected in by-polls to Pabna-4 constituency recently with Awami League ticket, took oath on Wednesday.

Speaker of Jaitya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath to Nurzzaman at the parliament in the capital.

Deputy speaker Mohammad Fazle Rabbi Miah, chief whip Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury, whip Iqbalur Rahim and Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, Nadira Yasmin Jolly MP, among others,were present on the occasion.

JS senior secretary Md Jafar Ahmed moderated the oath-taking ceremony.

Nuruzzaman Biswas bagged 2,39,924 votes in the by-election held on September 26.

The constituency Pabna-4 remained vacant following the death of ruling party MP Shamsur Rahman Sherif on April 2. The Election Commission could not arrange the by-polls there as per the constitutional requirement of within 180 days due to Covid-19 pandemic.
